WBC heavyweight champion David Benavides (30-0, 24 CO) won a 12-round unanimous solution because of WBA regular champion David Morel (11-1, 9 KO) on Saturday night at Las Vegas in Las Vegas.
The results were 115-111, 115-111 and 118-108. The latter result was disturbingly bad, but it showed what the Cuban Morel stood up, fighting the more popular Benavides in Las Vegas, not in neutral territory in Riyadh. I had Morel to win 115-111.
Benavides was dropped in the 11th right hand by Morel. Interestingly, the referee docks Morel a hit point after the bell. No warning. That put everything in perspective.
WBC heavyweight champion David Benavides and regular lightweight heavyweight champion David Morel Battle tonight in the main PPV PPV Pre Video event to try to win a title.
Score
– In the fight for boring support tonight, tonight, Steven Fulton (23-1, 8 CO) studied WBC champion in heavyweight Brandon Figueroa (25-2-1, 19 CO), defeating it with a 12-round unanimous decision in their rematch. The results of the judges were 116-112, 116-112, 117-111.
Fulton landed well with accurate shots and moved enough to avoid the impact of the arm that Figueroa landed. In the Fulton Championships, at the age of 30, he looked tired, and Figuroa came to win several rounds based on his work. Until then, he needed a knockout and did not have the power. Fulton was destroyed by Naya Inu in 2023, but Figueroa lacked his strength and accuracy.
– former WBA Light champion in a heavyweight category Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz (27-3-1, 18 CO) defeated Angel Fiero (23-3-2, 18 CO) with a 10-round unanimous decision. The results were 96-94, 97-93 and 98-92.
Cruz pressed a pace quickly, landing on the hard, more thoughtful blows in each round. Fiero was also connected a lot, but his shots were not as attractive as those of a pit bull. In the short circles, Fierro changed tactics, choosing to box Cruz and he had some success. It wasn’t enough to win the victory.
Cruz was coming down from the defeat of the split solution to 12 rounds against Jose ‘Valezuela Rayo on August 3 in Los Angeles. The interesting thing is that Pitbull chose not to take the rematch with Rayo, which some saw as a sign that he knew he could not win.
Cruz also rejected a chance to fight Ryan Garcia on the 2nd cardboard of the Times Square Al-Sheikh in New York. This tells you that the loss of Cruz from Rayo had a more affected than people thought.
– junior average contender Jesus Ramos -Jr. (22-1-1, 18 CO) stopped former IBF and WBC 154-Funt Jeison ‘Banana’ Rosario (24-5-2, 18 kos) champion in the eighth round. The referee chose to enter and stop the battle because Rosario accepted punishment and did not throw anything back.
Naturally, he was not happy with the stopping, but the referee did the right thing because Jason looked like a punch bag tonight. The 23 -year -old Ramos, Jr., knocked him down in the seventh round and looked in bad shape when he returned to his corner.
His coach had to stop the match between the circles, not allowing him to go out for the eighth. Oh, the battle was stopped anyway, but it was so one -sided. I cannot believe that this mismatch was in the part of PPV on tonight a card, not the PRELIM part.
– light weight Mirko neck (15-0, 12 CO) marked a miracle that comes from behind in the knockout of the 10th round of Christian Olivo (25-2-1, 9 COS) to win. 24-year-old Argentine Quelo gave up three of the judges’ indicators in the last round. However, he released Olivo twice with left hooks to the body in the tenth to win Tko. The stop time was at 2:01 out of the ten round.
Some would question the judge’s decision to stop the match because the 25 -year -old Olivier had stood up and wanted to continue to fight after the second blow. Earlier in the Olivo match, he slaughtered a cueel with the right to the head, dominated by the battle of the sixth round. Quelo entered the seventh to take advantage of Olivo’s tiring and became better than the rest of the road.
– Cuban perspective in middle category Joenli Hernandez 7-0, 7 CO) may have given an idea of what we will see in the main event tonight with his fifth victory on Tko over the Mexican Angel Ruiz Astora (18-4-1, 13 KO). The 27 -year -old Joenli hit Astor’s optional with powerful tops in the fifth round. Finally, Referee Alan Huggins decided he had seen enough and stopped the competition. The stop time was at 1:06 of the fifth round.
After only seven matches under his belt, Hernandez seems to be currently in goods to challenge for a world title. The only thing he needs work is his protection. He was hit by a lot of Astor in the first two rounds and could not do it against fighters like Janibek Alimhanuli, Carlos Adames or Hamza Sheez. They hit too hard to attach Joenley as he was tonight.
– a slight perspective Curmel Moton (7-0, 6 CO) overcame a rough start to put a technical knockout of the third round of the Cuban Frank Pay (5-2, 3 CO). In the third round, the brace is unloaded with a noise of shots to get a stop. Referee Harvey Doc came in and waved it. The weather was at 1:51 of the third round.
The 18 -year -old brace is highly marked in the first round, choosing to trade with Zaldivar at close range. Some shots that the bayman landed in this circle were extremely powerful, but the brace received them well. However, if it was a bigger blow, a brace would be killed for sure tonight because it was too reckless.
At one point, a brace will have to change its battle style as it does not have the type of Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis power. Although it looks like it, it is a more combined blow and it is hit a lot. You put on a breeze with someone like Andy Cruz or Abdullah Mason, it won’t last long.
