The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), who is investigating the disastrous Medevak aircraft accident at Philadelphia on Friday night, announced that it is discovering the black box of the aircraft – still missing in a scattered debris.
During a news conference on Saturday afternoon, NTSB said the flight originated in Opa-Loka, Florida, and reached the Northeast Philadelphia Airport at around 2:15 pm.
After sunset, the aircraft remained on the ground for a few hours before the runway departed two, and climbed about 1,500 feet at around 6:06 pm.
“We were looking at GPS data on the aircraft,” said NTSB President Jennifer Homendi. “(The aircraft made) a modest right turn, followed by a modest left twist, and then a standing lineage towards the ground, where it crashed. The flight lasted for less than a minute. ,
Homendi turned right and left before the accident and said “(vote) really suggest anything right now.”
The accident is still classified as an accident.
Crew has found two engines and searching for cockpit voice recorders, which can provide more information.
However, the sector of debris expands four to five blocks and according to NTSB, it may take up to the week to gather. Once lifted, the crew will take the debris to a safe place for evaluation.
NTSB stated that it is likely that the black box is very damaged.
“I want it to be a high impact accident, and the aircraft is highly fragmented,” Homendi said. “(Black box) may retain, but it is likely that it is very damaged. It can be fragmented. ,
The NTSB investigator arrived at the scene within 90 minutes of the accident, and a full “Go Team” was deployed on Saturday morning – with a total of 17 people with specific expertise in the areas of aviation security.
Whoever finds debris, even if it is not recognizable, should email NTSB on a witness@ntsb.gov. Videos can also be sent to the same address to assist the investigators.
