Maye leads Pats to playoffs; The Ravens lose Lamar and the game


Maye had the first 300-yard game of his NFL career and the New England Patriots clinched a playoff berth with a 28-24 victory over Baltimore Ravenson sunday evening.

Maye finished the game with 380 yards and two touchdown passes. The Pats (12-3) will play in a playoff game for the first time since the 2021 season and can still finish first in the AFC.

Along with losing the game, the Ravens (7-8) also lost their quarterback Lamar Jackson in the second quarter. Jackson was hit hard by injuries during the season, and his health largely explains the team’s problems in 2025.

This loss for Baltimore drops them to two games Pittsburgh Steelers (9-6) and first place in the AFC North Division. The Ravens will need a minor miracle to make the playoffs. The Ravens and Steelers will face off in the final week of NFL action.

Trailing 24-13 in the final quarter after the team’s second touchdown of the game Derrick HenryMaye and the Patriots rolled up their sleeves.

The Pats’ rookie quarterback first threw a spectacular 37-yard touchdown pass Kyle Williams with 9:01 left in the game. Maye completed the two-point conversion by connecting Rhamondre Stevenson in the end zone to cut the deficit to three points.

The Pats offense drove back down the field moments later and Stevenson capped a nine-play, 89-yard drive with a 21-yard rushing touchdown.

Trailing by four, the Ravens had one last chance to take control of the game with 2:03 left. On the second play of the offensive sequence, Zay flower was the victim of an attack to destroy the Ravens’ chances.

In relief of Jackson, Tyler Huntley completed nine of 10 passes for 65 yards. Henry had a good rushing game with 128 carries for 128 yards and two touchdowns.

Stevon Diggs took advantage of his quarterback’s big play to catch nine balls for 138 yards, two Patriots highs. Hunter Henry caught another Maye pass.

Before Maye’s performance, the last 300-yard game by a Patriots quarterback was Sept. 10, 2023. Mac Jones had then amassed 316 passing yards.

However, this Pats victory came with a downside. Patriots running back Tre’Veyon Henderson also left the game in the second quarter with a head injury.

Henderson tried to get up after a run. He was able to leave the field under his own power, but headed for the tunnel shortly after.

Henderson, who had 773 rushing yards before this game, is a strong candidate for Offensive Rookie of the Year. He only ran for 3 yards on five carries before getting hurt.
