Baltimore-Medical School of the University of Maryland partnership with engage Initiative to provide free health performances in the churches of the Baltimore area.
On Sunday, inside Mount Pleasant Church and the ministries, people took some extra care from the outside.
“I hope what they earn is the beginning of the process where they are really involved in health care and taking forward any health problems,” said Terris King, old pastor in the church of Liberty Grace of Baltimore and the leader in commitment with the heart.
Alltte all part of the refund engage Program, an initiative that addresses chronic illnesses, mental health and community health.
The event provided essential health services such as performances, immunizations, mental health support and pediatric care in partnership with Johns Hopkins and the University of Maryland.
“Access to medical care is a challenge that I think we are all working to solve,” said Esa Davis, Associate Vice President of Community at the University of Maryland Baltimore.
According to data from diseases for disease control and the Maryland Health Department in 2020 and 2022, average life expectancy in Baltimore city dEclipsed.
The research points to the lack of access to preventive services, Medical care and food.
These data are the reason why church leaders, medical professionals and the informed Task Force of the City Baltimore Trauma are working together-to return the numbers.
“There are some people in our city who may not trust the hospital,” said Zeke Cohen, President of the Baltimore City Council. “They may not trust the government, but they trust their pastor, and so this idea of accessing health care using spiritual care with health care is so important critical.”
Their purpose is to increase the capacity of churches to provide health information to their members. By uniting prominent churches and health organizations, they hope that their work will empower community members to lead healthier life through access to education, nutritional programming and preventive performances.
“And one of the ways to do this is to ensure you use the infrastructure that is already in communities entrusted to resources help build the capacities for these churches to be a place where people can come and get good medical information, “Davis said.
“And we’re keeping our word,” King added.
The organizers said this event is just the beginning. They plan to work with more churches and hospitals to make sure they reach as many people as possible.
