Lessons derived from the defeat of UNC’s basketball program in Duke

UNC completes the game with a traditional composition

Hubert Davis applied an initial squad with four guards as a way to get his four best players on the court at the same time. This can work against some teams, but it would never work against the giant and athletic team of the Duke.

With the decision of the game, Hubert Davis had some time to do some experiments at full speed. Radical experiment? The traditional composition of “two guards, two ahead, one center”. With seven minutes remaining in the game, UNC has leaked Elliot Cado, Seth Trumbs, Cade Tyson, Drake Powell and Jalen Washington, and eventually Ian Jackson obeys Trumb. No one would ever argue that this is the composition of the best players in North Carolina, but they respond to traditional basketball roles better.

They took a deficit of 27 points and curled it up to only 16, until they loom 5-3. Will this window give coach Davis Pause to think about how he attacks the rest of the season? Does more balance exceed the lack of fire power?

These answers should be revealed if North Carolina has to do on time to make the NCAA tournament.
