It’s rare to find filmmakers who straddle the line between mainstream and experimental, inventing popular forms. Born in 1960 in Texas, where he still lives, Richard Linklater, a passionate film buff and self-taught filmmaker, has worked in all genres in all economies since the mid-1980s, developing his own projects with the occasional Hollywood collaboration. This balance between autonomy and appeal to a large audience, between independence and the market, is a key issue for all contemporary creations represented by the Center Pompidou.
In 2019, Richard Linklater is invited to present a complete retrospective of his films.
