Former German President Horst Kohaler died at the age of 81, the German major state office confirmed his family statement.
“Horst Kohaler died this morning at the age of 81 after a brief but serious illness, which is surrounded by his family in Berlin,” statement Read, copy Caliber.az,
Chancellori indicated that the details about the funeral would be provided in later times.
Kohaler served as the ninth President of Germany from 2004 to 2010. Born in 1943 in Skarbeszo, Poland, he was the seventh of eight children. His family fled Ludwigsburg during Soviet advance in World War II. Kohaler later studied economic science at the University of Tubingan and received a doctorate degree.
His professional career began in 1976 with the Ministry of German Economics, and later became the Secretary of State in the Finance Ministry. In 2000, Kohaler was appointed as the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), who was one of the posts till 2004 when he was elected President of Germany.
Kohlar made Germany’s idea the champion as the “country of ideas”, aimed at shaping its future and acting as a global force for good. His domestic focus was on steady, long -term jobs, while in foreign policy, he advocated a fair globalization that preferred the welfare of all people. He also warned against irregular financial capitalism. In his inaugural address, Kohlar famous said, “For me, the fate of humanity in our world depends on the fate of Africa,” emphasizing the importance of the continent for global development.
Although he was re -elected for a second term in 2009, Kohaler resigned in 2010 after a controversy over his comments about German military missions abroad.
