DUKE BASKETBALL JON SCHEYER press conference after UNC victory
Following the victory of Duke Basketball against UNC at Cameron Stadium indoors, chief coach John Sheyer discussed what was working well for the Blue Devils.
Durham – this is statistics not displayed on the result of the box but Duke Basketball He grabs it.
Cooper Flag pointed it in The Blue Devils Second Ranking Classroom after winning 87-70 against UNC rival At Cameron Stadium indoors. Chief coach John Sheyer confirmed it from the daisy in Bill Brill’s media room.
“I thought our length discouraged them, throwing a bunch of gaps, getting many deviations,” said Flag, which had 21 points, eight struggles, seven assists and three thefts in their debut against TAR HEELS (13-10, 6-5 ACC ).
“I think we had the most deviations we had throughout the season (against UNC), so it was huge for us.”
When asked about deviations, Sheyer confirmed that Duke (19-2, 11-0) has the best effort in this category.
“Oh, by the way, it was our high deviations. We talked about it and now we have to break it again. … twenty -three, I think. One of you will watch the movie and see that it is 16 or 17. They told me 23, ”Sheyer said with a smile.
Only the Blue Devils and their fans will want to watch the movie of what Duke did on Tar Heels on Saturday night. The game ended in the first half, when the devils descended to 40-13 leads before reaching the margin to 32 in the middle in the second half. Duke’s protection set a tone of dominant victory in Durham.
“I think it’s really difficult if we can divert the ball so many times,” said Kon Knupel, who had the highest 22 points, along with five rebounds, five assists and two thefts.
“Our defense will always provoke our crime. We want to hang our hats. ”
Malik Brown, who returned after dropping four knee -breasted matches, was at the center of chaos as a Duke’s protective catalyst with deviation after deviation.
“Ruthless effort, ruthless energy. He’s just a dog, ”Knupel said to Brown.
Five minutes after the Saturday match, Brown entered the game for the first time with Duke ahead of 15-6. Twelve seconds in his first action in mid -January, Brown made a theft that led to a three -point game for Flagg. The Blue Devils exceeded UNC 10-2 during this three-minute stretch before Brown returned to the bench.
“It’s just a change of game. This will never appear in the box, the way it affects the game, “Sheyer said. “As I said, I felt that this game was just calling it. … He is just a winner. ”
Duke had 10 quick breakdown points, 10 thefts and scored 19 points from 14 rpm on the heel of the tar. UNC made a late running to make a 17 -point defeat, but Devils’ deviations and the first half decided the game long before the final Zumer.
“We were really free (against UNC), stopping, especially at the beginning of the game,” said Zion James. “This is something we are trying to do every game. It’s nice to go back to what we know we have to do. ”
