Bear Bachmeier Opens Pop-Tarts Bowl Score for BYU

ORLANDO, Florida – True freshman Bear Bachmeier’s right arm was as lively as ever in the opening quarter of the Pop-Tarts Bowl against Georgia Tech.

Bachmeyer completed nine of his first ten passes, including a touchdown to Chase Roberts that gave his team a 7-0 first quarter lead in Orlando.

No. 12 BYU (11-2, 8-1 Big 12) concludes its 2025 season on Saturday, Dec. 27, against the Yellow Jackets (9-3, 6-2 ACC) at Camping World Stadium.

Roberts already has four catches for 32 yards and his sixth TD of the year.

Georgia Tech responded with a touchdown drive of its own to tie the game at seven in the second quarter.

Bear Bachmeier is off to a fast start in the Pop-Tarts Bowl

Perhaps limited by a left ankle injury in the Big 12 Championship, Bachmeier and the Cougars took off early and often.

The usually bruising running back went 7-of-8 on BYU’s first drive. It was a drive that ended on downs when Enoch Nawahine was charged at the goal line.

BYU’s offense went back to work after the defense went three-for-three for the Yellow Jackets.

Bachmeyer completed two more passes, including one that scored on his big wideout. He finished the quarter with 132 passing yards.
