The Columbiana District Technical Center (CCCTC) has been a career and technical education beacon for Columbiana district students since its inception in 1977.
Four years ago, the Pandemia forced a change in the way we did things, and we were lucky to have local newspapers ready to help us get the word for district students and families for our programs through a series of monthly articles .
As things have returned to normal, this new normal allowed CCCTC to use some significant changes over the past four years.
The building has had major renovations to connect the laboratory environments to the community industries that serve and provide students with the 21st skills they need by learning with technology and front equipment.
Along with renovations, a new program has been added and some new laboratories have joined the staff. The friendly and popular faces that people have known for years have been replaced with new friendly faces due to staff members who meet the year of service and retirement age requirements. Thus, during the rest of the school year, the changes that have taken place in CCCTC will be emphasized to keep the community informed about the state of career and technical education in their district.
Current sophisticated students who are interested in enrolling in a program for the 2025-26 school year are invited to do so by visiting the CCCTC website (https://www.ccctc.k12.oh.us) and completing the registration request that is available now.
Any questions regarding programs or registration requirements should be addressed to sue Allison, the guidance administrator, in (330) 424-9561 EXT. 118 or Sue.allison@ccctc.k12.oh.us.
The subject of February’s attention is the Internet Information and Technology Technology Program (CIT). There are two new aspects to highlight with this program.
First, this is a name change in the program which also resulted in a change of curriculum and a newly renovated laboratory space. For many years, the program was called the Information Technology Academy. To continue with the constantly changing technology world, everything had to change. Now we live in a world where online security is a must for any business which means there must be well -trained individuals to fill those positions.
The second aspect to be noted is the very young instructor, Mr. Jeffrey Williams, who is in his third year of teaching this program. He brings a host of knowledge to the program.
The benefits of being a
Program
Students in the CCCTC Internet Information and Technology Program gain so much practical experience by accessing the latest technologies in its field, which allows them to learn inspections and outsiders of computer equipment, network, security Internet, programming, and automation.
The lab environment cannot be repeated in just any school environment or even in some college facilities. Students not only learn the theory needed to be successful in this field, but they must also immediately place this knowledge to work and practice the skills they learn daily.
They are lucky to learn and work in a collaborative lab environment that reflects jobs in the real world, where they will eventually look for work. This prepares them for any way they decide to attend high school if she is continuing their education at a 4-year or 2-year-old school after a secondary or go directly to the industry.
Courses through the program are important and focused on equipping students for their future steps. The curriculum includes opportunities to complete industry -known certificates, participating in a foundation stone project and engaging in local, regional and possibly state and national competitions.
Students leave this program with technical knowledge, but also critical soft skills such as teamwork, communication and problem solving, which makes them ready for their second careers that they come out of CCCTC doors after graduation.
Credentials and articulation
Deals on the program
Career-technical education not only prepares students for the workforce, but also allows them to start their post-secondary path. Students who make learning efforts will leave CCCTC with the credentials they need to successfully enter the workforce. All students enrolled in the CCCTC Security Program in Cybernetics and Information Technology become certified in OSHA-10. Students also have the opportunity to earn the following credentials known by industry, which are highly valued in IT and technology fields after successful course completion: Comptia it fundamentals+(ITF+), Comptia Cloud+, and Google it supports the professional certificate.
Students with very high achievements can obtain Python programming certification, Google Cyber Professional Certificate, Siemens PLC certification and Amazon web certificates.
Another benefit for students is that the Internet Security Program and Information Technology currently has an articulation agreement with a high lesson institution, the University of Acron. With this being the first year of the naming and the newcomers’ program, courses from u that students will be given credit for it is not yet available.
Also possible that more articulation arrangements will be obtained. Successful completion of the ITC course and fulfilling all acceptance requirements while high school can earn student college loans towards a diploma in this field.
In essence, students receive free classes loans and start the college with some of the required subjects already completed by giving them a start on students who have not completed a career and technical program in information technology and online security.
There are opportunities for providing students’ opportunities to earn accelerated and double registration loans: Career Career Security Guide (CTAG), Bilateral Agreement and Plus Plus loans. Cyber’s CCCTC information safety and information technology would be CTAG Street. CTAGs offer free loans for the transcription of direct college for the equivalent course of college accompanied by every public university, public university after matriculation.
Student attention
An exemplary student for the CIT program is Arlo Bell. Arlo is an elderly man from local crestview local high school.
Arlo has really excelled in everything that was done before him. He is the technical champion of technical math Enclictusa for our local competitions.
Last year it settled regionals and advanced all the way to the state competition. On January 31, he will compete again in the regional competition hoping to return to Columbus for the state competition again this year.
He is currently working on a foundation stone project that includes building and programming his video game using Python. ARLO’s ability to innovate and implement his ability to solve real -world challenges is really impressive.
In addition, he is excellent in winning the certificates, passing each in his first attempt. It shows extraordinary initiative and leadership. He is the local president of the CTSO Encussusa chapter for the Cit Cit. His passion for technology, the constant commitment to excellence and the willingness to assume a leading role make him a truly prominent student.
Instructor’s attention
Instructor Jeffrey Williams, a graduate of Beaver local high school in 2009, was born and raised in Columbiana District.
Before a career in education began, he spent over a decade working on it. He began his career by working as a trainee for a desk of aid, and over time, he eventually worked his way across the ranks to be an IT administrator. The transition from an industry like her, where most of the work becomes calm and independent, in the field of career education, where you are constantly communicating with students, is a big jump.
His decision to move to teaching was driven by a desire to imitate his father and give his community back. Mr Williams’ father has worked in education for much of his career and always talked about the task of helping your community to improve anyway.
This always gripped with Mr. Williams and so when the teaching position was opened through a pension, it was a natural transition for him. He knows that working with students from his yard in Columbiana county will help them develop eternal skills. Being able to do so, he believes he is fulfilling the task he was urging to pursue.
CCCTC online security
& Information Technology
The program benefits from the local industry
Program graduates are ready to enter the workforce with practical, real -world skills and certificates that meet the needs of today’s employers.
They are trained in problem solving, system creation and maintenance, programming and online security, giving them tools to excel in roles such as IT techniques and network administrators.
Moreover, focusing on the soft skills learned in CCCTC ensures that students who complete the two-year program are strong communicators and collaborators. Local businesses can benefit by hiring students and CCCTC graduates because they earn skilled professionals who are prepared to hit the land by running and contributing to their organizations from day one.
Student student who is interested in enrolling in the Internet Information and Information Technology program, as well as any other program provided by CCCTC must complete the online app on CCCTC.K12.OH.us.
To provide a place in the choice program, students must enroll by April 1 before the programs begin to be completed, so do not delay registering today.
Any questions about programs can be directed to Sue Allison in extent 118 (sue.allison@ccctc.k12.oh.us) or Michelle Fitzsimmons in 158 (Michelle.fitzimmons@ccctc.k12.oh.us) in the county Columbiana Career and Technical Center.
