The Indian government is warning millions of Chrome users about the new risk.
Chrome is facing a new security risk affecting millions of users in India who use the web browser on their Windows or macOS system. The high risk alert has been issued by the Indian government this month through the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) with a high severity rating which is never good news and will make people worry about the security of theirs.
of security risk with Chrome detailed by the agency in its notes, “Multiple vulnerabilities exist in Google Chrome due to object corruption in V8 and out-of-bounds memory access in V8. A remote attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by executing a specially crafted web page to perform remote code execution or cause a denial of service (DoS) condition on the target system.”
Security issues exist in several core components of the Chrome browser that are dangerous enough to allow hackers to exploit and make it easy to steal data from systems running vulnerable versions of Chrome.
So, if you’ve been using Chrome on Windows, macOS, or a Linux machine, you need to make sure that these browser versions don’t work on your system:
– Chrome versions before 132.0.6834.110/111 for Windows and Mac
– Chrome versions before 132.0.6834.110 for Linux
If your system is running versions of Chrome prior to those mentioned here, we advise you to take this issue seriously and immediately update the browser for macOS, Windows or Linux machines. You can do this by going to the three-dot menu in Chrome – Settings – About – Update Chrome. Google has listed the security fixes that come with the stable channel update.
