Tony Cottee estimates that Marcus Rashford would be a great fit in West Ham – provided he had compromised his salaries and insurance for his fitness.
The dissatisfied Rashford, 27, wants from Manchester United but some world clubs can afford his £ 300,000 per week.
West Ham have fought for purposes this season and it would need someone to strengthen their fire power, but the figures involved can be many.
Cottee, 59, scored 146 goals in 336 appearances in two spells in the club, and he said, “It depends on what you are getting Marcus Rashford.
“If you are taking it from a few years ago, he scored 30 goals. I’ve always been a big fan of Marcus Rashford. He is a fabulous player.
“But there has been a lot of things that are happening in his personal life lately, especially last year, which I would worry about. If you are exchanging Manchester’s bright lights for the bright London lights, it worked for Jesse Lingard.
“Another issue with Rashford-West Ham can’t afford £ 300,000 per week. I don’t think a lot of clubs can.
“But you can always make a deal where West Ham pays, I don’t know, £ 120,000 a week. Man Utd has to pay it anyway.
“Would I love it at the moment? Yes. But the problem you have is that he is probably not suitable because he has not played games.
“Personally, I would like to see Marcus at the club. As long as he has a gym, I think he can be a good addition to the club.
“You will have to play it as a center ahead. There is no point to buy it to play wide, right or left. They have wide players.”
