James Ransone died this Friday, December 19, 2025 at the age of 46. The American actor committed suicide, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Department. A few hours after this painful announcement, his widow Jamie broke her silence on Instagram, paying an emotional tribute to him.

According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office, The actor committed suicide this Friday, December 19. Two days after the tragedy, his wife, Jamie McPheeposted a touching message on Instagram. In the caption of a photo where she is seen stroking her belly when she was pregnant, she recalls: “I’ve told you a thousand times that I’ve loved you and I know I’ll love you again… You told me, ‘I need to be more like you and you need to become more like me,’ and you were so right. Thank you for giving me the greatest gifts: you, Jack and Violet. We are forever.”
The couple had two children: Jack, six, and Violet, four. Wanting to highlight the importance of mental health, Jamie McPhee highlighted a link on his Instagram account leading to a fundraiser for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). In 2021, James Ransone revealed that he had been a victim of sexual abuse as a child. He also spoke about his struggle against alcohol and drug addiction in an interview Interview magazine in 2016. He then explained that he had overcome his addictions and been sober since he was 27 years old.
