This time fight night falls on a Friday and what a great spectacle of boxing awaits.
Anthony Joshua (28-4, 24 KOs) will face Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) In an eight-round professional heavyweight bout on Friday at the Cassia Center in Miami, with stream the fight on Netflix.
One of the key figures behind the event, which is likely to feature during the broadcast, is Eddie Hearn, chairman of Matchroom Sport.
Hearn has been a longtime and loyal promoter of Joshua and other top fighters. With years of experience in the sport, he’s developed a reputation as a polarizing figure that audiences either love or hate, but he knows how to make a fight feel like a main event.

1. Eddie Hearn is the son of Barry Hearn
Hearn was born on June 8, 1979 in London, the son of legendary promoter Barry Hearn. He started working at Matchroom at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks, taking over boxing operations and becoming known for his innovative approach to promoting fights.
Barry worried that Eddie might “end up like one of those rich kids with no motivation.” To instill a strong work ethic, he assigned Eddie tasks such as shining shoes and washing cars. By age 15, Eddie had started selling cold calls for window treatments, an experience he later described as an “incredible school” for a future salesperson.
2. Hearn promoted world-class fighters
Hearn has been instrumental in bringing some of boxing’s biggest stars to a global audience, including Joshua, Katy Taylor, Canelo Alvarez, Gennady Golovkin and Billy Joe Saunders. In the 1980s, he associated himself with Francis Ampofo, Frank Bruno, Chris Eubank and Lennox Lewis.
Hearn has also played a key role in expanding the reach of the sport through streaming platforms, pay-per-view and international events. Known for his energetic personality and media-savvy approach, Hearn is considered one of the most influential figures in modern boxing promotion.
3. Hearn signed boxing’s first $1 billion deal
Matchroom Boxing landed the first $1 billion boxing deal in 2018 when DAZN agreed to broadcast the fights.
DAZN hoped to emerge from the “Netflix of sports,” but unfortunately for them, the stream giants is now a major player in the sports industry.
4. Hearn promoted the first women’s title fight at Madison Square Garden
In April 2022, Hearn co-promoted the Katy Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano fight at New York’s Madison Square Garden, marking the first time a women’s fight headlined the iconic venue. The event sold out and was widely considered a great success.
5. Hern has a wife and two young daughters
Chloe Hearn is Eddie Hearn’s wife, and the couple has been married since 2012.
In addition to her roles as a wife and mother, Khloe is a business woman. She co-founded Chloe’s Beauty Bar in Brentwood, Essex in 2014 with Chloe Sims. The salon was even featured in one episode. The only way is Essexbut it was closed in 2019.
Eddie and Chloe Hearn have two daughters, Isabella, born in 2010, and Sophia, born two years later.
