A skydiver bailed out and ultimately survived after his spare parachute accidentally deployed and got stuck in the tail of a plane as it was. he advances in the sky.
U Australian The Transportation Safety Board explained that “the spare handle became attached to the aircraft’s flap, resulting in the deployment of the reserve parachute.”
Video footage of the harrowing incident – which happened in September – shows the parachute deployed, with the man flying into the tail of the plane and then hanging from the plane because the chute had stuck.

“The reserve parachute wrapped around the left horizontal stabilizer and the elevator deflated as” the “lower legs of the parachutist struck the stabilizer,” the ATSB notedadding that the person “was then suspended under the tailplane.”
The individual was able to use a hook knife to cut the parachute cords.
“The reserve parachute then ruptured, releasing the ‘person’ from the aircraft with part of the reserve remaining on the tail of the aircraft,” notes the ATSB report.

After releasing the plane, the parachutist was able to deploy the main parachute and land – but not without facing some complications.
The ATSB report states that “during deployment of the main parachute, the remaining reserve parachute lines twisted around the main parachute lines. Also, during the opening sequence, the right brake toggle of the main parachute released.”
“The main parachute fully inflated with twists of the line, and after initially turning to the right, began a rapid rotation to the left. After several rotations, “the parachutist” grabbed and pulled on the right brake line above the twists of the line to stop the turn. The parachute stopped turning, and the “individual” managed to divert the line of twists, and leave the Pass twists 0. the main parachute lines fully extended from the reserve parachute lines and functioned normally for the remainder of the descent.”

The pilot managed to land damaged planeaccording to the ATSB, which noted that the skydiver “landed 9 seconds later with minor lacerations and bruising to his lower left leg and a deep gash to his right leg.”
