The problem with the connector was always a mistake in the user. Passing to 12V-2×6 instead of 12VHPWR can give a little more tolerance to the user’s error, but the right thing to do is simply to make sure that the cable is placed correctly and without significant power of the side force of the connector.

Again until I had any problems alone if I had a choice I would very much They have a long line of traditional 8pin PCIe connectors than a single flimsy VHPWR connector. Or the hell, here’s another idea. Why don’t you just use 12V (EPS) power cord for GPU? They can provide 336W each. Only two of them will be needed to properly power 5090, and they are also super healthy. (The only disadvantage is that – besides the keys – they look a little too much like 8 -pine PCIe power connectors and some fool would probably try to accumulate the wrong connector there.

Quite frankjly, I have the feeling that the people of ATX (whoever they are. IEEE?) Fucked this for a long time. They should be diverted with one (or, well two, 4pin and 8pin) universal type of power connector. 4PIN EPS for 192W of connector and 8pin EPS for 336 watts per connector.

Creating a difference between PCIe power and motherboard power was a stupid idea. PSU and PC power would be much fading if we had to worry about only one type of connector. And if EPS connectors can provide the more power of Pincount, those must be the ones we have gone with.
