Will Shipley makes his dream come true en route to a Super Bowl appearance


Philadelphia Eagles running back Will Shipley has dreamed of playing in the Super Bowl since he was a kid. Now, in his first year in the NFL, he gets an opportunity to do just that.

Shipley and the Eagles earned a spot in the Super Bowl on Sunday, defeating the Commanders 55-23 in the NFC Championship Game. The former Clemson star scored his first career NFL touchdown in the win and also forced a fumble. Shipley joined Good Morning America on Monday and described his emotions after helping the Eagles reach the Super Bowl.

“Oh, it’s crazy, you know. So many emotions come with it. It’s been my dream since I found out what football is.” Will Shipley said. “So to actually be here and come down to New Orleans in a couple of weeks and have the opportunity to do that is just amazing.”

Will Shipley was selected in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft after playing as a running back and punter for the Tigers. He was a key contributor on special teams for the Eagles all season while also getting some opportunities out of the backfield.

Shipley had 30 carries for 82 yards during the regular season, but had four carries for 77 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Commanders. He will then try to help the Eagles win their first Super Bowl since 2018. this way.

The Eagles also played the Chiefs in the 2023 Super Bowl, falling 38-35 in Arizona.

“Oh, I’m so excited. It’s been a dream of mine since I started playing ball, and now, 15 years later, I’m getting the opportunity to go out there and actually play in the Super Bowl my rookie year,” Will Shipley said. “I’m still taking it all in and letting the emotions come in. But I’m so blessed and I can’t wait to get another one with the guys and compete with my teammates and just go out there and have fun too.”

“Yeah, it was, gah, it’s just a dream come true,” Will Shipley said. “And to do it in the NFC Championship with my teammates and guys that I love, and you know, you see Saquon right there, coming to grab me and celebrate.

“That’s somebody that I look up to, somebody that has taken me under his wing since I was drafted into this organization. And just couldn’t be more grateful, couldn’t be more blessed.”
